Our first stop on this virtual tour is the Children’s Garden, in which we enter the magical world of whimsy. We have a “lawn chair” – an Adirondack chair constructed of wood and upholstered with live, growing grass. Alongside our green chair is the “flower bed” – a life-sized bed complete with quilt and pillow created with colorful live plant materials. Kids love the seclusion of our walk-through tunnel covered, by mid-summer, with a tumble of various gourd vines.

One of our newer additions to the Children’s Garden is our enlarged Butterfly Garden display. A huge Monarch has landed and kids can lie down and “become” the body of the butterfly as Mom or Dad snaps a picture.

The Cantigny potting shed shows one example of accommodating tool storage in a small space. The educational displays offer kids a peek at such things as root growth of veggies and how varying amounts of fertilizer affects pepper plants. Moms and Dads may love the garden for its great photo ops, but the kids seem to pick the bridge over the goldfish and frog pond as their favorite spot in the garden.
